Stone Cold Done With The Snow

Church's Request
These pictures were sent to me in two emails. I'm not sure who took the photos, but I especially identify with the first. Why won't it stop?!

Snowy Commute

My feet are defrosting. Hopefully my toes are not frostbitten and I won't end up a heart attack statistic from shoveling heavy snow.

I went through two changes of socks and boots. My heavy winter boots got soaked through from standing in slush while shoveling. I changed into my rain boots because they are more waterproof. Then a big chunk of snow fell in them! Ugh!

Well, at least the stairs and main walkway are shoveled and sanded before the big freeze later. Days like this I realize that I never appreciate summer enough.

How's the weather where you are?

I'm at home for my second Snow Day in a row. We had snow, sleet, freezing rain, high winds, a brief period of rain, and now snow and more high winds. I just want to ask all those people who say, "I love snow! It's so pretty!" this:
HOW DO YOU LIKE SHOVELLING AND SCRAPING ALL THAT PRETTY OFF YOUR CAR AND DRIVEWAY AND SIDEWALK, AS WELL AS TRYING TO DRIVE IN IT?
Ahem. Sorry. I'm just real, real, real, real, REAL sick of winter.

Wow! Those are great photos and I will go on record to say I did not pray for snow. Second, how on earth was that plowing done to get such straight sides for a parkway! Photoshop? That's more incredible than the amount of snow. My problem was that, as soon as my walk and drive were shoveled, the danged snowplow would come through and throw it all back! Aaargh!

Come visit when you can and check out my new vlog!

Well I hate to rub it in Lisa but we are sitting on a sea of gin. Sun shining, not too hot yet as it is morning...beautiful. Of course our poor Australian neighbours are in t he middle of a force 5 Cyclone. Waiting for daybreak to see the damage.
It's the same here in Montreal. This snow has no problem going through custom...

nance - You're my kind of people! ; )

sharlene - I thought the same thing. It has to be photoshop. Otherwise I'm really afraid of that plow!

tera - It's crazy! It was thunder snowing with hail today!

so simple - Oh you know you're rubbing it in Gilli! ; ) The cyclone is pretty scary though. Hopefully nobody was hurt.

louise de pour toujours - Welcome! LOL! Yeah, those cold fronts don't need passports! ; )
HAHAHA, that first picture is hilarious and totally true! Can't believe we are supposed to get more snow on Saturday! That second picture might actually become a reality!

I think we'll all be in trouble unless we have a really slow melt. This is day 3 at home and I really want to bake! I have no butter, no chocolate and no food creativity! Oh, well!

Am I reading right? Is 5 Feb World Nutella Day?

tsbk - Each time someone tells me that we're having another storm, I'm still shocked. I guess I shouldn't be anymore! This is our new winter reality. *sigh*

campbele - Yes! This Saturday is the 5th Annual World Nutella Day! And if you really want to bake, you could try a single layer cake. Instead of butter, try olive oil and/or yogurt.

Top with a glaze or whipped cream.
If you have white wine and a fruit jam or marmalade, stir them together over heat until it comes to a boil. If it's not sweet enough add some powdered sugar. Drizzle it over the cake.

Let me know if you try it and how it comes out. Good luck! I hope you're feeling inspired now!
