Lunch @ The Living Room

In my first carousel post, I mentioned that I'd write up another post telling you about eating lunch at The Living Room. Well, here it is!

The Living Room is a restaurant on Atlantic Avenue in Boston. By the name, you might be able to guess that it's very close to Boston's waterfront. The picture above is a short walk down the street.

The picture below is Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park, which is just across the street from the restaurant. This area is also very close to the North End, where you can get the best Italian food.

I recommend walking around the North End, because the streets are very narrow. Most of the parking is reserved for residents only. Plus, when you're out and about walking, you can see a lot more places, enjoy the lovely smells, and pop in Mike's Pastry for a treat. But I digress.

I should have taken a picture of the outside of the restaurant. There's outdoor seating, which would usually be quite lovely. The day that my friend and I were there was a bit chilly, very breezy, and hazy with smoke blown into the Boston area from forest fires burning in Canada. So we ate inside.

Can you guess why the restaurant is called The Living Room?

My friend ordered the Crabby Lobster Roll. She really enjoyed it. And I was impressed that it didn't seem to have too much mayonnaise, which can be a problem some places.

I ordered the Italian Chicken Panini, which was very good. The sun-dried tomato was just the right flavor and right amount. I can be rather picky when it comes to condiments. The fresh mozzarella was really fresh. I enjoyed the waffle fries. Nice crunch and flavor and you don't see them many places.

I have to say that looking at the menu, initially it did not do much for me. But the taste and quality of the food made up for it. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the coffee. It was hot and they kept refilling it, but it was not very tasty. It would have been better to hop over to the North End for something a little better.

Overall, it was a very nice lunch. Shockingly we did not have dessert. The portions were rather generous and I wasn't hungry enough. I think I filled up on coffee. I was freezing and trying to stay warm, so I kept drinking as they refilled it. So no sweets this time. But you know there will be sweets here again soon!

What a fun place to eat-I love Mike's Pastry-we went there millions of times when we were in Boston. Pop over to see my post on neckties for Father's Day. It reminded me of the Obama post.
