Still Loving The Single Layer Cakes

This summer, I confessed my crush on a single layer cake, which was my adaptation of Gourmet's Raspberry Buttermilk Cake.

The Swedish Visiting Cake is a classic too. One that I'll be baking for years to come. But there's a new cake in town.

The Norwegian Apple Cake. I discovered it on Tracy's blog last week.

Another wonderful single layer cake. I baked it this past weekend. It's gone already. G asked me to bake it again. It's quite possible.

I had planned to take a picture of a whole slice of the cake. But before I had a chance to, I realized that there were only a few crumbs left!

There's no way you eat as much cake and cupcakes as you claim! You're too svelte! Single-layer cakes are quick and delicious
I found a recipe for a plum cake and another apple cake that I've made several times. I only make cakes when I'm going to a potluck or having lots of folks over. The cake monster inside of me would OD.

Hi, Anali! Such fun to see you made the apple cake... and that it was such a hit. There are so many good apple cake recipes out there--from many countries. I just created a new spice cake recipe--can't wait to share. :o) I love single layer cakes, that's often how I make cakes. For just hubby & I anything more, or layers, is too much. LOVE that raspberry cake from Gourmet too... I should make that again too. So many cakes, so little time--LOL! ;o) Happy Day ((HUGS))

So nice to see the "Gift of Jewels" pen pals still in touch. I printed that Norwegian recipe of Tracy's as well. Now you've added more. Lovely.

willow - You will love this cake!

susan - Cheers! ; )

so simple - It takes just minutes to put together. When I think about the time, it's just as quick making it from scratch as using a cake mix. Oh, except for cutting up the apples! They do take a few minutes extra. : )

whimsical creations - Welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed your visit here. Hope to see you again.

suldog - LOL! Food blogging really does require a certain amount of restraint.

cynthia - Someone really has to invent a way to upload a cake. : )

can-can - Thanks for the compliment! I'm not as svelte as I used to be unfortunately. But also, there's usually a bit of time between cakes. I used to save cakes for guests, but since G is here, it's an excuse to bake more.

tracy - Thanks again for the recipe and inspiration!

parisbreakfasts - It is indeed! ; )

se'lah - I just realized that if it weren't for you, that I may not have found Tracy or her cake. Without you, this post would not exist! So I guess I can blame the calories on you too? ; )
