Falling For Fall

Fall is all around us. Though I've lived through dozens of autumns, I'm still astounded by the beauty each year.

From that first time in late August, when I notice the newly filtered look to the sun. The slight chill in the air in the mornings and evenings in September. To that one day in October, when suddenly leaves look like flames.

The scent of smoke in the air from indoor fireplaces instead of outside barbecues.

I'm not a fan of cold weather, but there's something special about the fall. Apple cider suddenly appears in grocery stores. Along with winter squash, pumpkins, and eggnog. Although, you can make your own eggnog.

Last weekend, I begrudgingly switched my closet from summer to winter. Pulling out my warm clothes, blankets, and flannel sheets. Then putting away my shorts, tank tops, and flip flops. The seasons changed again. From out of the summer blue.

Then Halloween and that weekend when we fall back. For those of us in the United States, that's this weekend. We all get an extra hour! I'm not sure what I'll do with mine this year. But I'm going to try and make it really count. What about you?

This lovely black cat always wonders around my neighborhood. I choose to believe that when it crosses my path, that it's very good luck.

Enjoy your weekend everyone! And Happy Halloween!

I think this fall has been particularly colorful in Kansas. But last night as I drove home from work, I realized the nice part of autumn is almost over. There's always that first time you realize more leaves are on the ground than on the trees. Last night was it.

As for my hour, I would like to make some grand goal, but I'll probably just sleep it away. Given how I've been feeling lately (run down), that might be the best way to spend it.

Here it's been cold fro some time...We've been wearing "winter clothes" and coats for weeks now. I'm not a winter person, but ironically ended up living in the "land of the far north"..LOL! Fall is a beautiful time, in spite of the chill--the richness of pleasures are taken more slowly now, and I love that. Happy Halloween weekend, Anali! :o) ((HUGS))
Happy Halloween and Happy Saturday Sharefest.

I love Fall. It is such a welcome relieve after hot summer. It is getting colder and colder. I'm starting to think about switching the summer/fall wardrobe for winter warm clothes.

Some folks actually do believe that black cats are good luck as opposed to bad luck. I'm among them. Last time a black cat crossed my path, I found ten dollars a block further away on my walk!

s - I hope you got the extra sleep that you wanted. This week I noticed the same thing about more leaves on the ground than the trees. I'm just glad there's no snow at this point!

tracy - I wore my "light" winter coat for two days in a row. Fall is definitely departing soon, so Im enjoying it while it lasts! :D

ms. bibi - Welcome and thank you for stopping by! Last night was one of the coldest of the season so far. It's funny how the temperature is relative. In February, this same weather will feel balmy!

suldog - Lucky you! I hope I see this cat again. I could use some cash! ; )
