Feeling Fall: A Roundup

Fall is here. The leaves are changing. Pumpkins are everywhere. Including my new autumn header! The heat is on and winter blankets are being used. Most importantly, I broke out the hot chocolate!

In a previous post, I mentioned that October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Last night my mother was part of a panel discussion at an event, where she spoke about being a 26 year survivor. She said that she received a big round of applause. I'm so proud of her!

+ + + + +

Well, now for a short but sweet roundup. Here are some events coming up soon and things that I'm liking right now.

~ A very random walk into Brooks Brothers on my way to Starbucks, running out of my old perfume, and some birthday money led me to Madison. My new favorite scent!

~ This looks like a fun weekend getaway to enjoy Vermont's fall foliage.

~ If you're looking to explore history and have fun in a city close to Boston known for Halloween, Salem is the place to be.

~ Freelancers Union recently announced Freelancers Medical, a new health care program for freelancers. Right now they are just in Brooklyn, but this primary care practice just for freelancers soon hopes to expand further in New York, New Jersey, and Oregon. They even offer free yoga and meditation classes!

~ Miss the Halloween fun of trick-or-treating? For just $5.00 you can do the grown-up version. Halloween On The Harbor is on Friday, October 26th, 7-10pm. Trick-or-treaters will be shuttled between participating Halloween on the Harbor stops on Boston's Duck Boats.

Each stop will offer specials on ghoulish cocktails, appetizers and treats. Participants are encouraged to collect passport stamps at each location they attend throughout the event.  You could win prizes for collecting the most stamps and for best costume! Ticket proceeds will benefit the Friends of the Fort Point Channel

~ On Saturday, October 20th, Wheeler del Torro, who is known around the world for his pop up events and dinner parties, will host the grand opening of Pharmacie, an experimental fusion test kitchen to explore flavors, textures, and sensations.

I had the opportunity to attend a preview event and will be writing about it soon! Here's a picture below to pique your interest.
