Please Help Preserve Quincy History!

With my post yesterday, you were able to see some of the beauty of Quincy.

Well today, I've was doing some research and found that all of us can help preserve some of Quincy's history just by voting online.

American Express and the National Trust for Historic Preservation are giving away $1 million in preservation grants to Greater Boston historic places.

Photo from the United First Parish Church website.

There are 25 worthy historic places to vote for, but the Quincy one is The United First Parish Church(Unitarian), or “Church of the Presidents.”

The United First Parish Church building, considered the finest existing Greek Revival church in New England, is a National Historic Landmark. It was designed by noted architect Alexander Parris, who also designed Quincy Market in Boston. The church is the burial place of presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams and their wives Abigail Adams and Louisa Catherine Adams.

The deadline for voting is May 17, 2009, but you can vote once a day, each day up until the 17th. You will have to register, but it is for a wonderful cause. There are still a few days left to vote, so I hope that you will spread the word and take a few minutes to register and vote for Quincy's United First Parish Church.

willow - Thank you!

se'lah - You're welcome! But unfortunately I didn't take the photo. It's from the website, but I do love the rainbow in the background.
