A Birthday Blowout + A Roundup

My brother's birthday was a couple of weeks ago. My mom made the cake. And here is a before and after picture. There's something so fun and life affirming about lighting birthday candles, then making your wish as you blow them out. I never get tired of it!

Also, I've been collecting random tidbits of things that interest me and think that it's time for another roundup. Here we go!

~ Travel + Leisure put out their list of America's Best Cities for pizza. Chicago tops the list. New York City is just behind at number two. And Providence, the birthplace of grilled pizza, is number three. Boston is number eight behind Salt Lake City. Ouch! I can't bring myself to like this list on Facebook!

~ According to the New York Times, chicken potpie is fashionable again. I've always liked it, but haven't made it in a few years. I guess there's still time this season. Spring is notoriously chilly in New England!

~ I love these rings by Rosa Maria Jewelry. Such a unique style! More pictures of her rings are found here. Rosa Maria (Rosy Abourous?) was born in Beirut, Leabanon, where she still lives and works.

~ This Traditional Dress is made to order by clothing designer Le Bouton, who lives in Maine. That would be a nice treat!

~ The pictures in this Flickr photostream are gorgeous! The photographer, Veronika Studer, also has a website with her photography and food styling. She lives and works in Switzerland.

~ Recently I tried Yancey's Fancy Bergenost Cheese, which is a buttery triple cream Norwegian style cheese that's made in New York. Yum!

~ I can picture myself sporting one of these T-shirts by Sugar Brown Cafe. So cute! Sugar Brown Cafe is the first collection created by Kasachi.

What are some of your favorite things right now?

Some of my favorite things...hmmm, let me see...I have become quite a fan of my spaghetti and homemade meatballs as of late. I had never made them before I moved to KY and they're yummy!

I am loving my Boston Celtics. They are hot on my radar since Ray Allen broke Reggie Miller's record for the most 3-point jump shots.

Lastly, wine. I acquired the taste for it a little over 4 years ago, and lately (among many other brands and types) have become quite a fan of Oliver Sangria :-)

tera - Yay Celtics! I'm not a huge basketball fan, but I do like the local teams. And that was pretty exciting when he broke the record. Thanks for putting Oliver Sangria on my radar. I'm on the lookout now! : )
