2010 Blog Housekeeping: Old Posts + Dead Links

I had the feeling that this was going to happen eventually. I just wasn't sure when.

Those of you who've read this blog for several years, may have remembered that I created and wrote a blog called And Razzleberry Dressing on the website Boomergirl.com. All over this blog, there are were links to recipes and blog posts over on that website. Well, the website has ceased to exist in its original form, so all of those links are now dead.

I realized this at 2:00 this morning when trying to add a link to my standby scone recipe, which was over there. It was gone, along with all the posts that I wrote from And Razzleberry Dressing. I took down all of those older recipes from my Recipe Index.

I'll have to write up the scone recipe on this blog and do some new photos for it. Also, my gingerbread recipe. All my standbys that I'm used to being able to link to, I need to add again. I'll make them in time. As I can, I'm fixing the old posts and removing the dead links. I may not get to all of them. My boss isn't paying me enough! : )

That's what happens when you rely on someone else's website for links. They can get taken down at any moment without notice. A big lesson learned. The first for 2010. I really am starting the new decade with a clean slate!

Being a big fan of Magoo's Christmas Carol, your blog title was always a fave of mine. Sorry to hear about the radical inconvenience.

Hi, Anali! Happy New Year! Great to be back from our trip and catching up with you here... Feeling jet-lagged and heart-fuzzy after a sweet Christmas, good to be home and back in blogland. Thanks for the updates. And your plans here of the New Year sound great. I plan to write on new happenings by the weekend too. Happy Days, my friend :o) ((HUGS))

Sorry to read about these woes. As I was a Web site manager in a previous "life," I feel for you. I spent many days fixing broken links...Best of luck with the fixes!

I've noticed that a lot of blogs are even eliminating sidebar links to blogs entirely. Sad, but understandable--lots of upkeep! Happy New Year (and you're still a sidebar link at my main blog).

You may be able to find some of your work through this search link.

Hope this helps

suldog - Well, it was good while it lasted...

tracy - Happy New Year! Glad to see you're back and making the rounds again. I'm so behind on my blog visits. Oh and I'm looking forward to your surprise next week!

jennifer - Thanks! I guess I have to decide if it's worth the time and effort...

nance - Happy New Year! I do appreciate the link! ; )

penny - Thank you! You're right! I found everything. Now that I deleted so much though, I'm not sure if I should try to put some back. I may just start from scratch and focus on looking forward. But I appreciate having the choice!

I linked to a memorial I posted at boomergirl on my website, and unfortunately, it wasn't archived at the WayBack site. (The July 25 issue is missing.)

I know I printed it out when it first appeared. I hope that I'm able to find my hard copy!
