Flickr Friday - Fire Hydrants

I took these photos of colorful fire hydrants about a month ago. Since then, I've been on the lookout for more. I haven't spotted any in real life, so I figured I'd look on flickr.

Here's a hydrant from Second Life called The Little Fire Hydrant Who Could by Torley.

I found a purple fire hydrant with some history and a green fire hydrant with a face that's a mystery. This one is colored pink. And this one I don't know what to think!

This one made me take a second look. Strange Shadow For A Fire Hydrant by Darin Barry.

This is One Big Fire Hydrant by Steve Webel.

But this one is truly the biggest! This hydrant is edible. Do you agree that this one is sexy?

Click here to see all the fire hydrants that people have photographed and posted.

And my collection of favorites keeps growing. I hope you check it out. Have a good weekend everyone!

You've hit upon one of my odd quirks - I have many, of course. But I really do like the many different types of fire hydrants. I've always wondered why some were so different than others. Are there actual efficiency issues involved, or is it mostly just aesthetics? Anyway, thanks for the cool shots!

(Had one right outside my house in Dorchester, so I guess that's what started my semi-fascination.)
