Chipotle - Take 2

Remember this post when I said that I was going to visit Chipotle for a free burrito? Well, I never got to use the very stylish coupon, because it expired before I could make it over to their Brighton location.

However, I did end up getting a free burrito from them. Chipotle opened yet another restaurant, but this one is in Quincy on Newport Avenue. Right across from Stop & Shop. On June 5th, they gave out free burritos all day, so G and I went and we each got one.

Even though it was cloudy and a bit drizzly, there was a line of people out the door. The line moved very quickly though and the employees were friendly and kept everything running extremely smoothly. I was impressed. They also gave out free drinks. No pressure to buy anything else.

They had a ton of people working there and they seemed to be enjoying themselves. They had the burrito making down to a science, with each person responsible for a different ingredient and they just moved it down the line. I had a chicken burrito and it was really good. They are so big, but I ate the whole thing. I had it for a late lunch and didn't need dinner, it was so filling.

I noticed a few days ago when I was at South Shore Plaza that there is a Chipotle there also. They are really moving into Massachusetts.

And on a sort of related note, G showed me this really interesting food article. Raul and Marina Montaño are a couple from Douglas, Arizona who make cinnamon-scented wafer cookies that are shaped like tacos called dichos. Dichos contain a Mexican saying written on a slip of paper, like a fortune cookie. One side is in English and the other is in Spanish. Dichos are available online on their website.

These dichos sound and look really good! I hope I get to try them soon. Now this is just me wishing and speculating wildly, but wouldn't it be cool if Chipotle placed a huge order for dichos and started giving them out free in all their restaurants with each order? Just a thought...

The closest Chipotle to me is about 15-20 minutes away so I don't get there too often. I HATE to drive more than a few minutes away for food. Although I really like their food, I'm not wanting to eat it anymore since all those people got food poisoning from the Chipotle near Kent State Univ. Did that make the Boston news? I'm sure the food is probably fine, I'm just chicken!

cynthia - Wouldn't it? : )

asha - I'm sure they'd appreciate your business. : ) I noticed 3-4 more Chipotles in the area this weekend and they all seemed to be doing pretty well. They seem to be making a big push in Mass.

nina - I didn't hear about that food poisoning. That would make me very unlikely to go there too.

big boys oven - Free food tastes oh so good!
