A Tiny Wooden Door

Can be found on the second and a half floor. In this very old Boston building, there is a very old elevator that I prefer not to use. They creep me out a little. I did use it going up, but I took the stairs when I left.

Walking down the stairs and seeing this little door, I feel like a giant even though I'm only 5'3". It's very Alice in Wonderland.

Because not only does my size seem to change relative to everything else, but it's not everyday that you encounter a half a floor. It's rather surprising. Just like the package that I received in the mail from a fellow blogger.

Thanks to her spring cleaning, I have some new pretty yarns to work with. Thanks Amisha! I had forgotten that she was sending it, so when the postman handed it to me, it was a lovely surprise.

I also want to mention the Pay It Forward exchange that I joined on Amisha's blog on this post. Amisha will be sending a handmade gift to me and two other people. In exchange, we each agreed to do the same for three more people. Here is the pledge.
"I will send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this PIF exchange. I don’t know what that gift will be yet and you may not receive it tomorrow or next week, but you will receive it within 365 days, that is my promise! The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog."

So I'm putting it out there. The first three people who leave a comment here saying that they want to be part of the PIF exchange, will receive a handmade gift from me. I hope that I can pay it forward!

Oh, I love little architectural foibles like that. It's one of the things I miss most since I moved to the West Coast. Things just aren't...well, that OLD here.

Ooh, I will totally Pay it Forward! How nice! Hmm...does burning a cd of great Depeche Mode songs sort of count? I am decidedly untalented at creating anything with my hands (but I want to learn)!

Anali - I remember that from when I was a kid! I can't recall where it is exactly, though. If you'd rather not divulge it here, would you be kind enough to drop me a line and let me know? It's driving me crazy trying to remember. Suldog@aol.com Thanks!
Gee, I know I've been in a building with half floors, but where?...

cakespy - I never thought about that in terms of East Coast vs West Coast, but I guess there are many more older buildings here. That's one of the things I love about New England. At least for the United States, things are pretty old here.

los angelista - I'm so glad you want to do it! I think burning a CD counts, but you'll have to find out if the person you're making it for likes DM. : )

suldog - It's on Beacon Street near Copley, between Exeter and Dartmouth. If you check all my recent post links, the address is there! :D

fenix - I wouldn't be surprised if a few buildings in the Back Bay half half floors.

byjane - Welcome! I'm still a newbie when it comes to knitting, so I'm not sure yet. I'd like to tackle socks. We'll see. All I've made is a scarf so far.

That 2 1/2 floor reminded me of the movie 'Being John Malkovich'

I love the 1/2concept. I was always amused by a friend in LA whose house number was 3600 1/2
Nice blog Anali
Cheers
