Carnival Of Favorite Things

Happy October everyone and welcome! I hope you enjoyed the cotton candy and are ready for some fun. Let's get this carnival started right!

So simple has a sing-a-long.

"Champagne in glasses whilst perched on our asses
Pate de foie gras and shellfish with sauces
Christmas with presents all tied up in string
These are a few of my favourite things

White wine and red wine and good friends to drink with
Sunshine and music and good books from wordsmiths
Cooking and eating the world's greatest food
These are the things that create a good mood

Traveling the world with my man by my side
Flying and boating, and any kind of ride
Good for the spirit and good for the soul
European, Antipodean and anything Creole

When it's raining
Wind and sea high
A cold Gin in hand
We simply turn on, the heater and smile
And glad we are not on land."

But her absolute favorite thing is when her grandchildren run up to her with outstretched arms with a huge smile and say "Grandma I love you."

Dezel gave us another nice little rhyme.

There are Pinot and Merlot and Chardonnay vines,
Big Cabs, Crisp Rieslings, and all sorts of great wines
Some are quite fruity, with zest, yum! And zing...
These are a few of my favorite things.

All of you know how much I love to read and I think I have something new to add to my list. The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is one of Mosilager's favorite books.

Thelau says that some of her favorite things are:
Getting back in bed after eating breakfast for a 5 minute nap;
reality TV (especially Amazing Race and Survivor);
gardening on a warm summer day;
reading trashy romance novels;
my kitty’s purrs and
playing cards with my family. I play a mean game of pitch!

Margie likes spending time in Nova Scotia in the summertime, driving along the beautiful scenic roads, and swimming in the ocean. Heaven on earth there! Taking an early morning walk as the sun is rising! I love this quiet time and all I hear are the birds singing their cheerful little tunes!

Jeff says, "while at my sister's wedding, my brother and I saw a dogwood tree with ripe, but unfortunately not overripe, berries on it. Our parents have a dogwood tree in their yard and when the berries were overripe, we'd absolutely destroy each other huckin' those gross things at each other. For nostalgia's sake, my brother picked one and chucked it at a nearby wall making a very satisfying SPLAT! sound. Yes...I am 5 years old, and yes I'm OK with that being one of my favorite things. Attached is a picture I took instead of chuckin' the berries."

S.B. says that her favorite male celebrities are Clive Owen and Mark Wahlberg, who replaced James Spader, because he just got sort of "bloated." Her favorite foods are bagels, lox & cream cheese. Her favorite recording artist to listen to after a long day in a hot tub is Sade.

One of Jeseem's favorite things is this car, that he calls "perfection which I will own someday, not far away." Another favorite he says is "simplicity, a cup of hot tea."

Avila says, "In the midst of cleaning my room, I found two boxes that had been abandoned for quite some time only to be touched by dust and unseen particles. I thought I could share with you, as this is one of my favourite things. Ah, the boxes. The contents: many letters, cards and postcards, small gifts and stacks of old empty coloured papers. These bring back the best memories. Friendship and relationships, the love. I love keeping things. Keeping things is one of my favourite things to do."

Avila provided some beautiful pictures to go with her submission, but they were not in a format that I could save and upload. On her blog, she has a beautiful picture of her favorite notebook, so I thought I would share it here. I hope this is okay Avila!

Well, it looks like the close of our carnival. I hope you all had a great time. Thank you for taking part!

Hey nice job with the carnival! Definitely read the hitchhiker's guide, guaranteed laughs until you put the book down.

"In the beginning, the Universe was created. This made a lot of people angry, and has been widely regarded as a bad idea."

jeseem - I agree the book is usually better than the movie. I can think of one exception though - "The Joy Luck Club." I loved the movie just as much as the book.

so simple - Sounds like you had a blast!

dezel - Cotton candy without the worry of cavities. Can't beat that! : )

I like the sing-along!

May I add to it?

Ahem:

Shotguns, machineguns, brass shells that go tinkle;

Wash and wear clothes that just refuse to wrinkle;

Going to Disney gives my heart big wings, these are a few of my favorite things!
