Google Celebrates Harriet Tubman

I was happy to see Harriet Tubman celebrated on Google's American homepage today. Well done Google!

Not even a month ago, Google celebrated what would have been Zora Neale Hurston's 123rd birthday with a Google Doodle.

Seeing two black women recognized for their accomplishments in this way definitely warms my heart. And in the middle of winter, a little warmth goes a long way.

*Updated 2/17/2014* While I'm not sure who drew the Harriet Tubman Google Doodle, I just found out who drew the one for Zora Neale Hurston. The illustrator's name is Sophia Foster-Dimino. If you'd like to read more about her, Design*Sponge did a nice interview with her.

Also, I just read that you can submit ideas for Google Doodles by email to: proposals@google.com.

esme - You're welcome! It's been a wild series of ups and downs, but I'm still breathing, so I can't complain. : )

I noticed this, too. Someone at Google is in the know and is making a small but significant contribution. Thanks for sharing.
