The arrival of June and hot humid weather also brings free outdoor yoga classes in Boston.  Last year's post was so well received that I decided to do it again. Some classes are indoors, like the classes taking place at branches of the Boston Public Library, but they are free or donation based. Wonder if they focus on Tree Pose at the branches? : )

Ahem. Also, some classes are year-round, but they move outdoors for the summer.  It's a potpourri of yoga listings! If you click on the added links, you may also find other fun free outdoor activities are offered as well, but I'm focusing on yoga. For a listing of other free fitness classes around the city, see Boston on Budget's article Free Fitness Classes and Events in Boston for Summer 2013!

Fort Point Fitness has three free yoga classes, among other activities this summer, but not on a weekly basis.

Lululemon has pop-up yoga classes every once in a while, so look at their Facebook pages for Newbury Street and Prudential Center for more information.

Like last year, this post will be updated as needed. Some of the information was available on websites. Other information I called to confirm. If you hear about any places that I've missed, please let me know and I may add them as well.

Hopefully this list will prove helpful to those of you in the Boston area and also those of you living elsewhere, but planning to visit Boston. Staying at a hotel that offers free yoga seems like a nice perk to consider.

A few places have yoga classes a few times a week at different times to fit your schedule. So you could possibly take free classes all summer. Right now, Thursday seems to be the only day without any classes.

On that note, I do have a final point, that I've been thinking about quite a bit. With our new economy, sometimes it seems like a race to the bottom when it comes to what people will pay for products and services. For many of us, myself included, incomes are often stagnant or lower than they once were because of this. I don't want to contribute to the problem with this list. How do you compete with free?

Free classes are great, but yoga teachers have valuable skills and need to make a living. Hopefully many who attend these free class will tip well and take some paid classes too. Namaste!
