Dinner Club: Rachel Ray

A few weeks ago I enjoyed a nice dinner with my Dinner Club, formerly known as the Cooking Club. We sort of tried to come up with another name and this was what we came up with. Not very exciting, but a more correct description.

Each month we choose recipes from a celebrity chef/cook and fix dinner from it. Last month was Paula Deen and we were all pretty happy with her recipes.

With Rachel Ray? Not so much. Each of us had "eye rolling moments" when talking about the recipes. All of us agreed that her 30 Minute Meals are definitely NOT 30 minutes. They take longer. She doesn't include prep time, which I personally think is ridiculous. We don't have assistants prepping for us!

I don't want to be overly negative, so maybe I should leave it at that. Below are links to the recipes, but I don't recommend them. Cook at your own risk!

Next month is Wolfgang Puck. I really have no idea of what to expect from his recipes, but I'm looking forward to checking out his desserts.

I've always suspected this, just from watching the show and seeing what she fixes. Prep time is a very important time-consumer and can make or break a meal choice... Good for you all for standing up to it! Come visit when you can... Wolfgang has some very recipes, so I'll be looking forward to your posts....

Check out my other blog Rockin'Chair Reflections for a special Christmas memory of mine...
Great article on the Huffigton Post, Lisa.

Hi, Anali! Just love hearing/seeing about you Dinner Club--such fun! Hubby & I would love to be in on something like that. I'm not a huge fan of Rachel Ray, but must say the mushrooms & kale over mash sounds very good. I recently purchased Jamie Oliver's 30 Minute Meals, and there's no way they can be done in 30 minutes--LOL!--but they are good recipes. I often associate Wolfgang Puck with fancy, so will be eager to hear what you make and how it goes! Many thanks for the birthday wishes at my place yesterday--bless you! We're slowly emerging from being wonderfully wrapped up in the holiday spirit and glow. Wishing you & yours much PEACE, LOVE & JOY in 2011! ((HUGS))

tracy - I'm bringing up Jamie Oliver's name next time. I watched his show about making school lunches healthier and have so much respect for what he's doing. He has a lot of heart. Happy 2011 to you and your husband! I think it's going to be a good year! ; )
