Scrumptious Scones + My Life List

One more item crossed off my life list! #6 was to teach a class. And I did it! I taught a scone baking class this past Saturday and it went great.

I was too busy to take pictures, but this is a picture of the handout. It was so fun seeing my students baking scones on their own after my demonstration. They really seemed to enjoy themselves and several said that they will definitely be baking scones from scratch now. There is more baking in the world!

Next Saturday I'll be teaching a class on baking single layer cakes. You can register here. [*Updated 10/30/2010* Unfortunately the single layer cake class was cancelled.]

Last week was crazy! Of course the week that I'm preparing for my first class ever and have several other deadlines, I have jury duty! What are the odds of that?

I made it up to the jury box, but was challenged and not chosen for the trial. Whew! What a relief! I'd like to serve on a jury one day, but this was definitely not the best time.

Have any of you served on a jury?

Congratulations on checking off another life list item! I was chosen for a jury on a medical malpractice case. It was interesting to experience the process (two of my siblings are lawyers-- I can now see why they are so passionate about what they do!), but the details were pretty gross. :)

I got picked for jury duty once. Sat in the jury room waiting for about two hours. They sent for the defendant, walked him by the room of prospective jurors, and he took one look at us and decided to take a plea deal instead! End of my jury duty.
I love me some scones! Thanks for visiting my blog today! I like yours too and following you back! have a fabulous day! XOXO Jessica

Kudos to you teaching a class-where are you teaching-do we get the scone recipe?

Obviously I have never sat on a jury. I always thought it would be fascinating.

I think you read my story of serving jury duty for ten days. My advice is to avoid it like the plague. Interesting? Yes, for the first hour or two. After that, it is an amazing pain in the ass. Others mileage may vary, but they're demented :-)
