Remember this rhyme from when you were a kid?
The shoe designer is Andreia Chaves, and it seems that the invisible shoe will be for sale soon. It's rather interesting, but it doesn't look too comfortable. To wear or to live in! : )
I feel like a reference to people living in glass houses and throwing stones should be added to the mix while I'm at it. Though the analogy might be lost with the shoe house thing and me not actually living in one. But I can't resist. I'm writing this before having my coffee today.
Speaking of people living in non-traditional homes. There seems to be a rise in people living in houseboats. Or maybe I'm just noticing more of them? The blogger Pia lives on a houseboat in Amesterdam. The design website Apartment Therapy is featuring several houseboats. They're really quite nice.
In Seattle this weekend, they're having Houseboat Open Houses. That would be fun to check out. Also, the character Crosby, from the television show Parenthood, lives on a houseboat. Not real life, but still. It makes you think about the possibility of living on a boat and that it could be a comfortable home.
The concept of home and comfort are some of the things that I'll be writing about in my new newsletter. That's right! I've been hard at work writing the debut issue of a monthly digital newsletter called SOLSTICE. It's not quite finished, but the first issue will be out soon. It's free, but subscription only. If you'd like to receive it, you'll need to add yourself to the mailing list. I hope that many of you will subscribe and join me in this new adventure.
The summer solstice is June 21st and I'll tell you more about SOLSTICE soon!
*Updated 12/1/2010* SOLSTICE has been discontinued. Thank you to all who subscribed!

"There was an old woman who lived in a shoe.The first line from this rhyme popped in my head when I saw the picture above. An invisible shoe! I first saw the shoe on the website a pattern a day, which referenced this article from a few months back on the website today and tomorrow.
She had so many children, she didn't know what to do;
She gave them some broth without any bread;
Then whipped them all soundly and put them to bed."

Perfect. Personally even though our boat is great for a few weeks... I love the space and freedom of living on land The shoe meanwhile looks wonderful but imagine wearing it!
so simple - It would be fun to just be able to take off and travel, but I wonder about where they go during bad storms when it's their actual home.
chris - I would like to try it on too. I'm really excited about SOLSTICE too! Thanks for the enthusiasm! ; )
