Bring Back The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency!
Have you seen this show? I don't have cable, so I didn't get to watch The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency when it first aired on HBO. Recently I watched the complete first season on DVD, which I found at the library, from their great selection of DVDs.
Jill Scott, one of my favorite singers, stars as Precious Ramotswe, the first female private detective in Botswana. I so love this show! Jill Scott is an amazing actress. The show is well written, acted, directed. You name it. It's a top notch program.
Precious or "Mma" is a woman of "traditional build" and very happy with her size. Each day she has a snack and takes time to drink some Bush Tea, while thinking about one of her cases. I love the pretty tea cups and found that Bush Tea is actually another name for Rooibos Tea. It's also called Red Tea.
There's mystery, romance, humor, music, plus the beauty and culture of Botswana, where the show was filmed. I would love to visit!
Hopefully there will be a second season of the show, but I haven't been able to find anything. I found a Facebook fan page for the show, which I just joined. There are close to 15,000 fans all hoping to bring it back.
*Updated 4/25/10* It looks like HBO is considering movies to bring back the characters, but does not plan to bring back the show as a series. Below is the statement that was posted to their facebook page this past Friday.

"Thank you so much for your passion; we are also big fans of The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency. Unfortunately, we ran into too many obstacles to continue it as a series. But, with The Weinstein Company, we are exploring ways to bring the characters back to HBO, possibly in two movies. Writers have already been hired. We'll continue to provide updates here and appreciate your enthusiasm."

alessandra - You're welcome! I hope you can find it. Enjoy!
barbara albin - Welcome! Thanks for the update. I'm glad that so many people are pulling for the show!
i think it was anthony minghella and sydney pollack - both fantastic storytellers - who produced this show and passed away before it aired.
It's lovely, something different from the usual crime series.
And it's really well done.
Thanks again.
