If You Give A Cat A Cupcake

"If you give a cat a cupcake, he'll ask for some sprinkles to go with it. When you give him the sprinkles, he might spill some on the floor."

No, this is not more of my sweet cupcake prose. It's a quote from a book aptly titled, If You Give A Cat A Cupcake, written by Laura Numeroff.

I haven't read the book and this is not any sort of official review. No payments or cupcakes were received for the writing of this post. But I was just doing my daily click on The Literacy Site, which gives free books to children. {Please look on the left sidebar.}

I love that there is a way to help others by doing something so small, so I like to take note of some of the sponsors, who make this site possible.

Well, if there are one thousand words, and cupcakes is one of them, I'll see it in a mere moment. So my eyes locked on the sponsor with "cupcake" in the title. I clicked onto the ad and was brought to the website for this children's book, If You Give A Cat A Cupcake.

This book looks adorable. I clicked on the author's name and she has a great website. She's also written some Mouse Cookie books. I think this author has a sweet tooth!

Well, Laura Numeroff's books have me smitten. She also has a book called If You Give A Pig A Pancake. Just in case some of you are looking for some children's books, it looks like she has a few good ones. And I like that the author has made a point of supporting good causes and has a Giving Back section on her website. She seems like a good egg. Read more about her in her autobiography, If You Give An Author A Pencil, where she talks about her writing life.

You know, I was thinking I might bake this weekend...and this post certainly sparked the motivation! I can't read the word "cupcake" too many times without the tastebuds going crazy! :)

Hi Anali,

Let me try to compose something for U that rhymes:

THE cat spills the sprinkle on the ground but does not lick it clean;
THE cat deserves a cupcake without toiling for it;
THE cat is the darling of all those who adore its feline grace;
IT's a lovely land of cat full of mice and rats.
AHA! My poor lazy cat!!

Thanx.
