Need Vietnamese Speaking Volunteers For Obama!

I just read this post on the blog Asian Americans For Obama '08
and thought I would help spread the word. Maybe someone will read this post on Universal Hub and go down to Northern Virginia. Here is an excerpt from the post.
"Over the weekend, a group of volunteers from Asian Americans for Obama and South Asians for Obama went to Virginia from New York to help with AAPI outreach efforts. We worked with the Falls Church Office and canvassed a number of their neighborhoods.

As some of you may know, there is a HUGE Vietnamese population in this area. We found that the group was largely comprised of undecided voters, some of whom leaned towards McCain (particularly the older generation) primarily because of his military ties, with little to no understanding about his policies.

However, when they heard about Obama’s policies, they tended to gravitate towards him (of course!). I was fortunate enough to be with a volunteer who spoke Vietnamese and she was able to sway a number of voters our way. She was terrific and she made such a difference.

Recent polling indicates that the race is very close in VA, so any help you can provide to get out the vote would be great. It really could make the difference in turning VA blue. ...

If you or anyone you know speaks Vietnamese and would be willing to volunteer at the Falls Church office for a week, weekend or any amount of time, I’m sure they would be very grateful. Please note that training is provided and no experience is necessary."

Hi Anali

Just sitting here in Auckland on my computer listening to the debate between the candidates. Very civilized.
Not long now.
Hope you are not too badly affected with the global crisis.
Its been an interesting couple of weeks.
Cheers

I think Obama won the debate and I wish more people will listen to what he has to say.

so simple - The financial news seems to be getting worse every day. I'm just trying to stay level headed and remember "Buy low - sell high."

starry nights - I hope that undecided voters really start reading about both candidates and make some well-informed decisions come election day. It's so frustrating to me when people say that both candidates seem about the same to them.

dmarks - I think I remember hearing something like that and thinking that I was shocked that he would say something like that.
