The Democratic Dance

Today I attended the Massachusetts Democratic State Convention. It was held in Lowell at the Tsongas Arena.

I was a Delegate again for Quincy, but must admit that it seemed much more exciting when we were choosing the nominee for Governor back in 2004. (Correction - 2006) . Maybe it's just me.

Here's a picture of Governor Patrick as he spoke to all of us. It seems like such a long time ago when he was running for Governor. Now all eyes are on the national election and it was definitely spoken about. How the Democratic party needs to heal and come together.

I know this is true, but it's also easier said than done. I don't know that I will ever trust the Clintons again. And I would think that those who were really invested in Clinton's campaign are having a difficult time suddenly needing to support Obama.

The work of the convention was to vote for who would appear on the ballot for Senator. Senator Kerry is running again and is being challenged by Ed O'Reilly, who received enough support to make the primary ballot.

As I was driving out of Lowell, I was stopped at a red light on a bridge. I looked out the window and saw this picture of a shadow of a couple dancing. I thought it looked really pretty against the green with the blue sky above. I had just enough time to pull out my camera and take the picture. The 2008 election season, both state and national, is in full swing now. Let the dance begin.

Being a Obama supporter, I never really thought of how Hilary being knocked out would affect those democrats in relation to rallying for the national election, so thanks for that perspective.

I would have liked to witness that convention.

Good for you for taking part in such a way. No matter how much I agree or disagree with somebody's politics, I always am heartened by someone sacrificing his or her time to become involved in the process. God bless!

Hillary was so stepped in crime, corruption and scandal, and loves dirty tricks, lying, and insults against her campaign and political opponents. I didn't trust her long before the battle with Obama, and I knew enough about her that her race against him turned out exactly as I thought it would turn out.

Glad the Dems have a clean candidate.

And this page: http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/06/11/america/11clinton.php

shows what Clinton and her supporters are all about. How dare someone interfere with the path to power she was entitled to!

rachel - You're welcome! I think every American citizen should attend at least one political convention in their life. It's interesting seeing the democratic process at work.

suldog - Thanks! I'm not sure if I'm going to keep doing this, but it's been a great learning experience.

dmarks - I'm so happy that Obama won too. I couldn't get that link to work to see the article.
