Through My Window

This may be my last chance to blog for a little while. I'm going to Chicago for the BlogHer Conference! I'm flying out Thursday night after work and am really excited to go! I haven't been to Chicago since around 1991 and it was a very cold February when I visited. I did get to see Oprah's show though and ate at her restaurant The Eccentric. It was really good, but wasn't in business for very long.

Hopefully I'll have some pictures to share when I return. Most of my time will be pretty booked up, but I might have some free time on Sunday, so I'll probably do a little exploring before my flight leaves. Any suggestions for the Navy Pier area?

I took this picture looking through my kitchen window. It was inspired by Apartment Therapy's "Through My Window" Series. I haven't submitted this to them, but I liked it anyway.

See you soon!! My train leaves in a couple of hours---wheee! :)

I'm not leaving until Sunday night, so let me know if you'd like some company. I have heard the Art Museum is excellent, but aside from that I'm just winging it with a tiny Moon city guide and chance. :)

fun! you guys are going to be in my neck of the woods. if you'll be around Navy Pier you'll want to check out the Stained Glass museum which is right there, but mostly I recommend getting away from the Pier (it's really touristy :( ) and exploring the MagMile -- just ask anyone to point you to Michigan Avenue -- you can walk it from the Pier.

Anali, I think you would looooove Fox & Obel, which is a gourmet grocery enroute from the Pier to Michigan Ave. And then once you're on Michigan head toward the Loop -- if you don't mind a little bit of a hike you'll wind up at Millennium Park which is magnificent and hopping with activity in the summertime.

have fun! I may have to check out this conference... maybe I'll see you there. :)

karrie - Have a great ride! I'd love some company on Sunday! We'll have to catch up!

suttonhoo - I hope you can go, that would be great to meet you! I'd love to see the Stained Glass Museum and go to all those places. My only problem is that my back is acting up again today. I cannot believe this!! So I won't be able to walk much at all.

asha - Thank you! And sadly I haven't even sat out there yet. Soon though!

I adore Chicago--a big city with a college town feel. suttonhoo, I have to disagree with you: I'm a tourist, but I love Navy Pier. It's cool, lovely, and fun. You don't have to do the touristy stuff there and can enjoy just walking the pier and enjoying the view and the ambience. Michigan Avenue is far more commercial and touristy, I think, because it's just shopping.

But what shopping!!! I could spend a whole day just in Crate & Barrel. Anali, beware! Kitcheny gadgets galore, and you must have them ALL.

Have fun, have really good, comfy walking shoes, and have good eats!
Save up and try a dessert at Tru.

I have been dying for a chance to get to Chicago, but whenever my dear friend Nina, and our other friend Rey go, they never invite me! :( Nance perhaps I'll tag along with you the next time you go since you know all the hot spots ;)

I'm sure you will have wonderful pictures to share, and indulge in fabulous cuisine while away! Have safe and fun travels Anali!

Thanks for all your comments everyone! I had the most amazing time ever and will have to post about the conference in bits and pieces, because it's too much for one, two, or maybe even three posts.

And it will take me a bit of time to get back to visiting all of your blogs, but I will soon!
