Here's My Apron!

Even though I love to cook, I don't usually wear an apron. I wear clothes that can get messy, so it doesn't matter if they are powdered with flour and sugar, or spattered with batter and dripping with chocolate. I only wear an apron if for some reason I haven't changed into my "cooking clothes" yet, but need to get cooking fast!

But I do have an apron that I really like. It has fish and lobsters on it, like it's underwater. I love the ocean and cannot imagine living more than an hour from the coast or a large body of water. I live and work just a few miles from the Atlantic Ocean and this trip was my first time seeing the Pacific. I love seafood, so this apron really jumped out at me when I saw it in the store. I was visiting Hawaii for the first time and remember going to a mall with a clock tower.

I just Googled it and found it here. It was called the Aloha Tower Marketplace. I don't remember the store name. This was back in 1995 or 1996 and it was winter, around February. I missed the horrible annual ice storm that we usually have here in Massachusetts. I remember lying on Waikiki Beach thinking how nice it was to be able to remove myself from the winter weather. That was a true luxury. Gotta love those frequent flyer miles!

You may be wondering why I'm writing about an apron, especially one that is usually hanging on my cupboard as shown in this picture. Well, I'm participating in another blog event. It seemed kind of fun and different, so why not? My Under the Sea Apron is one of many that will be part of the Show Us Your Apron event over at Lucullian Delights. Check it out!

*Updated 7/19/2007* Here is the apron roundup!

There were a few "aprons" featured in an Improper write up recently that would have made really cute tunic style tops. (I recycled the issue, so have no idea where they were sold, but I kind of wanted one.)

I enjoy reading about aprons and the stories behind them. This is the second blog (so far) that I have visited that is taking part in the event and I already see a theme whereby people choose aprons based on things it reminds them of or things that they are fond so.

So you like the ocean eh? When yuh comin to the Caribbean?
