My Favorite Things

"Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things."

I love the movie and the music from The Sound of Music. There is something so beautiful and magical about all of it, yet melancholy at the same time. It is a story of love and family, yet there is oppression, war, and fear.

Today is my birthday eve. In my first blog post, I wrote about having 9/11 for a birthday. Being the 5th year anniversary, there are movies and television specials. I haven't seen any of the movies and don't think I will. I really like the show Sunday Morning on CBS. Today the show was looking back at how things have changed in the past five years. It was a good show, but it probably wasn't the best thing to watch to get me peppy and up for the day, which I guess this post probably reflects.

Anyway, now you can see why I'm surrounding myself, and by extension my blog, with my favorite things. And this gave me the idea to host a blog carnival. It will be a Carnival of Favorite Things. So if people are willing and interested, I would like for you to submit one of your favorite things to me, whether it be a favorite recipe, restaurant, movie, book, celebrity, store, song, etc. Surprise me, but keep it clean folks!

I've always felt that my birthday was my own personal New Year. A time for making changes and setting new goals. The 1st of the month is a time of new beginnings too, so the Carnival will be on the 1st of each month. So if anyone would like to participate, please email me one of your favorite things and I'll compile them all. On October 1st, I'll do a post of your favorite things. And if this all works out, I'm sure that this Carnival will become one of my new favorite things. You can email me by clicking on "Email Anali" under my profile or email me at analisfirstamendment@hotmail.com.

"When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad."

Happy Birthday, of course we are a day ahead of you and it is now Tuesday 12th so I do hope you had a happy birthday.
“Sound of Music”
You must have a Sing along with the Sound of Music Party
The DVD has titles for the deaf and all the words are there on the screen.
We all dressed up as characters from the movie my son looked particularly fetching in his Lederhosen and pork pie hat.
It is so much fun and when the appropriate song comes up for your character you must perform.

A few months later we did "Sing a long with Grease" another beauty.

I put a great Chocolate Ganache Cake on my blog maybe one of your friends could bake this chocoholic delight for your birthday

Will email you favourite things later

Cheers

By the way no kids at the Sing-a-long this is a party situtation.
Definitely need a few drinks to get everyone going
A very funny night.

Hello Anali,

Nice picture! : )

I will email my list of favorite things as well; do we have to meet the rhythmic criteria or will you take care of that?

Happy Sipping!

Dezel
