A King's Hawaiian Giveaway + A Blogger Lunch

*The contest is closed. Congratulations to Anastasia Fall!*
At the end of June, I attended a King's Hawaiian blogger luncheon at Catalyst Restaurant in Cambridge. It was so fun!

Let me tell you. I was impressed. We were greeted with cocktails and appetizers. We had the whole restaurant to ourselves, so there was plenty of space. The tables were set beautifully and with such care. There was relaxing Hawaiian music. The flowers were spectacular and given away by raffle at the end of the meal. Plus we all left with very generous gift bags.

The meal was wonderful, but above all we were truly welcomed and provided with excellent service and hospitality. We were able to choose from a menu what we wanted for our main course and everyone seemed to be having a very good time.

I saw some food bloggers that I knew from other events. There were also fashion and travel bloggers as well. It's always nice meeting new people. Especially those who love blogging too!

King's Hawaiian hosted this event to introduce their products to the Northeast area. I had never heard of them before, but the website said that they make bread and rolls that are similar to Portuguese sweet bread, which I love. The invitation said that for my attendance, a donation would be made in my name to my local Meals on Wheels chapter. So how could I not go?

Courtney Taira, pictured above, is the granddaughter of the founder of King's Hawaiian, Robert Taira.

Also I noticed on the website that King's Hawaiian partners with several companies and organizations. Having just recently been to a Firehouse Subs event, I noticed that Firehouse Subs is one of their partners. For a limited period of time, they have a King's Hawaiian Pork & Slaw Sandwich on their menu.

I asked Courtney how King's Hawaiian came to partner with Firehouse Subs.  She said that they got a phone call from them saying they wanted to carry their products. This was  unusual for them, but after several conversations they struck a deal.

I've always found it interesting reading about different businesses and it's quite interesting getting the opportunity to meet the people involved. But best of all is the food!

For my main course, I had Maine Lobster Salad served on King's Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Sweet Hot Dog Bun with House Made Chips. Yum!

For dessert, we had King's Hawaiian White Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding with Caramel Sauce topped off with vanilla ice cream. It was a really hot day out and seemed odd to be eating bread pudding, which I usually think of as a winter dessert. But it was really good regardless of the temperature!

Chef Kovel did a bread pudding demonstration for us, so we could see how he made it. I took some video that you can see here. I'm teaching myself video and realize that I need better equipment. The picture is rather fuzzy, but you can hear fairly well and get a feel for the event and see Courtney's personality. She's all about the laid back easy Hawaiian style!

So now I'd like to share a bit of that wonderful Hawaiian style and hospitality with you thanks to King's Hawaiian. You can win the items in the giveaway below!

You've never had a King's Hawaiian roll!?!@?#?!@#?!@ Ha Those buttery babies are so good. The cool thing is that there is a factory here in California (and a bakery), and you can smell the yeast and butter and flour if you're driving by on the highway. It's intoxicating! Glad you had a good time!

tdd - Not since before the event, but they are good. Sounds like a wonderful place to drive by. Reminds me of the smell walk that I went on yesterday and posted about.
