Just Drinking Some Tea

Luckily I was home today and didn't have to deal with the bitter cold and whipping winds outside. From what I saw on the news, the wind chill factor was around five degrees and I think it's dropping.

My comforter is in the dryer and I have to check on it in a few minutes. I also want to make some soup and do a bit of baking. Plus I'm working on a longer blog post that hasn't quite congealed yet. We'll see how much I actually accomplish in the few hours remaining of today.

I saw on the news that there is a horrible flu virus making its way through Massachusetts. A lot of people that I know have been sick, but I just had my one cold a few weeks ago so far. Let's hope it stays that way!

Normally I'm a coffee person - with a chai exception. But when it's really cold or I'm sick or trying to keep from getting sick, I drink tea. The type of tea doesn't really matter, but I squeeze the juice of a whole lemon in it and use a lot of honey. When I drink this at least once a day, but preferably twice, I'm better within a few days. I've told other people about it too and it's worked for them. I'm not sure how this will work for the flu, but for a cold, this is the remedy that I swear by.

I will try your remedy, because I woke up with the flu this morning and it is AWFUL. Hacking cough, fever, headache. AWFUL.

Anali,

I drink tea with lemon when I feel a cold coming on too. I usually cut the lemon and let it boil in the water for a minute or too before steeping the tea. I love it!

I like herbal teas, peppermint is my favorite but I like green tea also.

bipolarlawyercook - I hope you're feeling better and that it helped!

margie - Actually I'm feeling fine. I'm in full prevention mode right now!

mes deux cents - That's a good idea about boiling the lemon. I'll have to try that! Thanks!

Hot lemon and honey is the best remedy...I am not much of a tea drinker but add a shot of cognac to your hot lemon drink and it wards away all colds and flus. (well almost Anali)
And for the sore throat mix equal quantities of lemon and honey and sip it from a spoon. Very soothing

so simple - Hey Gilli! I like the cognac idea, but I don't normally have it in the house, but I can try SoCo. Also, I'll have to try the equal quantities of lemon and honey. Thanks!
